| 1. | Read the beginning of Chapter 1. Notice that this is a first person account. Discuss autobiographies, but notice that this is not written by Beckwourth himself. Ask pupils to find examples of biographies and autobiographies in your library. |
| 2. | Use the Contents list to predict what might happen to Beckwourth and what the reader will find out. Scan the pictures in each chapter to add to the predictions. |
